A new category of storage

Cloud Storage is the ability to access applications and information from a third-party provider, such as a large telecommunications company, that has built a global cloud infrastructure. That cloud infrastructure makes enormous amounts of information available on the Web. However, existing storage technologies were not designed with cloud services in mind, so third party providers require a new category of storage that offer:

* Massive scalability - The ability to collect an enormous amount of data from a huge number of sources.

* Efficiency at scale - An easy, cost-effective way to operate and manage that enormous amount of data.

* Global distribution - An effective method of distributing that enormous amount of data to the consumer.

This new category of storage, Cloud Optimised Storage (COS), is a perfect complement to traditional storage categories.

Businesses can utilise the secure, scalable, low-cost, infrastructure provided by COS as part of building regulatory-compliant applications. EntegrOS Smart Client provides computer capacity in the cloud, and COS provides a virtually unlimited cloud-based data storage facility. With no minimum fees, no term-based contracts, and pay-as-you-use pricing, COS is a reliable and effective solution for organisations of all sizes.

Summary

COS is a reliable, scalable, inexpensive "warehouse in the cloud" that facilitates regulatory compliance for your organisation; an infrastructure for data, images, and back-ups; and changes the way organisations deploy, manage, and access computing resources by utilising simple API calls and pay-as-you-use pricing. Pay only for what you use. There is no minimum fee.

  Features at a glance:

Encryption:
COS provides military strength data encryption to ensure ultimate security for data stored. It creates a highly secure RSA key pair (2048 bit), with private and public keys and a unique identifier for each key pair to help facilitate secure access. The Cloud then meta data tags the content for accessibility.

Firewall:
A default deny-all mode can automatically deny all inbound traffic other than designated IP addresses. Create multiple security groups to create policies as needed.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL):
COS can be accessed via encrypted endpoints over the internet or within EntegrOS. Following these practices ensures your data remains highly secure.

Auditing & Back-Ups:
Data security safeguards require comprehensive auditing capabilities, data back-up procedures and disaster recovery mechanisms. COS helps you address these requirements.

Point-in-time snapshots:
Create snapshots of your data, automatically store in COS and back up in multiple locations. Snapshots can be accessed at any time, from anywhere (based on permissions); protect data for long-term durability; store until intentionally deleted by your system administrator.

Disaster Recovery:
Disaster recovery is one of the more expensive regulations to comply with.

With COS, your data is replicated and automatically stored in separate data centers. This ensures reliable data storage; service level of 99.9% availability; and no single points of failure.
